From mindful meditation to manic meltdowns, we all process and react to our period cycle differently. After all, there’s no “right” way to handle your hormones spiraling and uterine-lining shedding other than letting yourself react naturally, right?
We’ve consulted the sun, stars, and our high (period) priestess to bring you your horoscope for your next cycle, so you can prepare for what’s ahead. Love and light!
March 20 – April 19
With your next period cycle, you might find yourself interacting with some, ahem, genuine rage. Rather than swallow your frustrations and plaster a smile on your face, take the opportunity to engage with your anger and express it in a way that feels healthy, without harming yourself or others. Perhaps it’s blasting Alanis Morissette, or screaming bloody murder into your pillow? Just a few ideas. Channel your rage through an activity that brings you a sense of euphoria— or just be angry, because period cramps are no laughing matter.
April 20 – May 20
This period cycle will have you looking for a sense of comfort and isolation. Isolation is often registered as a negative notion, but we don’t feel that is the case. Instead, think of it as a time for you to connect with your body and recharge. Feel empowered in your decision to say ”no” to outings or social commitments, and spend some time engaging in activities that feel safe and inviting. Whether that means watching an entire season of your favorite TV show in one sitting, or spending an hour or two in a bath with a good book, give your body the space to relax and regroup.
May 21 – June 20
Our wonderful, whimsical Geminis. This cycle may take you on an unexpected mental path, like contemplating if you should use your menstrual blood to make period art, or if you should finally send your ex that post-mortem email you've been reciting to yourself when you’re on the treadmill. We can’t tell you what to do, dear Gemini (although we do have thoughts on the email to the ex–– feel free to text us) but we do encourage you to take a deep breath, have a cold glass of water, and take a moment to reflect before committing to anything that feels risky.
June 21 – July 22
This cycle may be inconsistent or go against your expectations, which could result in a cloudy head space, as you’re typically someone who likes to prepare ahead of time. If you’re experiencing surprises, like a late start, irregular spotting, or a heavier flow than normal, don’t fret. Rather than getting frustrated with your body, go along with its plan. Listen to it. And if it’s telling you that what it really needs is chili cheese fries and a diet coke, we endorse it!
July 23 – August 22
With your upcoming cycle, you may feel the innate need to prove to those around you that everything is fine. It’s just blood oozing out of you, with a side of bloat and chin acne, right? Listen up, you prideful Leos–– your pain or discomfort is legitimate and you have the right to express how you feel about it! Don’t be afraid to speak up if you’re looking for sympathy or help–– your loved ones want to be there for you.
August 23 – September 22
Despite being able to choose our solutions, periods don’t ever really give you full control— they can be unpredictable and affect our bodies and minds in surprising ways. The release of control may be tough for you, especially in your upcoming cycle, so try your best to balance the urge to take charge, instead swapping it out with a go-with-the-flow mentality. If you channel your frustrations through meal prepping for the week, and end up eating an entire bowl of spaghetti and meatballs on the floor— you do you, boo. Don’t forget the oregano!
September 23 – October 22
You’ve been known to put your own needs on the back burner if you have a friend going through the same period cycle as yourself. You would be happy to hand over your last tampon to a fellow menstruating friend in crisis, even if you start to feel pre-period cramps rolling in. While these acts of kindness are valuable to those close to you, and give you personal meaning, don’t forget to access your own wants, whether it’s ice cream in bed or an afternoon laying outside in the park.
October 23 – November 21
It looks like your period might pop up during a busy social time for you (we don’t remember getting a calendar invite from our period— perhaps we missed it?) Despite your hormonal breakouts or fatigue, you’re committed to continue enjoying activities that you’re passionate about, and we tip our hats to you. In between the fun, don’t forget to hydrate and take time to rest and recuperate!
November 22 – December 21
You may find yourself feeling extra expressive during this period cycle, and looking for someone to share the experience with. Whether it’s calling up your mom to discuss the intensity of your cramps, or explaining your flow to your friends over brunch, you’re looking for a sounding board and perhaps a bit of well deserved sympathy. Who knows? Maybe your friends will treat you to a stack of chocolate chip pancakes!
December 22 - January 19
We know you’re often content with having a proper plan, dear Capricorn, so this might be a daunting cycle for you! We see surprises on the horizon, but know you can handle whatever comes your way. We do suggest keeping an extra pad or tampon in your bag before your cycle starts, as we expect it could pop up without your usual symptoms–– and let’s be real, you don’t want to be fashioning a dry, flimsy pad out of toilet paper in the Wendy’s bathroom.
January 20 - February 18
One thing is clear, dear Aquarius–– you’re not totally down to hang with others on your next cycle, and that’s okay! There’s nothing wrong with clicking the lock on your door, building a fort out of blankets, and diving deep into a good book (or rewatching Riverdale for the third time). Being alone doesn’t make you lonely–– it’s a time to pursue passions, hone hobbies, or absolutely nothing at all. And trust us–– your friends and family will be patiently waiting on the other side of the door when you choose to unlock it.
February 19 - March 20
The forecast for your cycle this month is a high chance of waterworks. You may feel a heightened sensitivity, and anything could make you emotional, from a sunset to an insurance commercial. Embrace the weepiness as crying can be an excellent way to let your feelings wash over you, and you may feel calmer and more refreshed once you’ve let it out. What’s better than a rainbow after a thunderstorm?
